'We live in an island where opioids go to rich kids, and then they pass away, that's called death over the privilege' -Adult Swim. We live in such an irrational and absurd world. So many give up what they work so hard for, or what they dream for, because they always fall short of fulfillment. Life is full of traps, but especially in our current world state, it's all too overwhelming. Sometimes we need to take a step back and just breath, too many don't know how.

Basically for my Culture and Honors class, I can do an analytical essay on an album that comments on Culture or Health. I REALLY want to do a Jon Bellion album, and I am having a hard time deciding between Glory Sound Prep and The Human Condition. Any recommendations, songs you like and their meaning that might help with my essay? Thank you!
"Statement of thesis/Problem/Main argument
How does music impact and call out cultural/health related issues, and how does Jon Bellion do this in the album ________?"@cosmcbrownie I think if you listen back to the whole album of GSP it's all about mental health or taking care of one's self and inner circle first before anything else. Song by song he consistently talks about reaching a good place in life through music, God, and his family. He talks about wanting to slow down and enjoy those blessings but the grind of the music industry and keeping up social appearances grinds him down. I think there's a lot of evidence in every song to support that the whole of GSP is a letter from jon to fans that he needed to focus on the health of himself and his family and was most likely (unfortunately for all of us lol) step away for a while...7 years :')

I would have to go digging through my old files to find it but would it be posible to use songs from both albums?! The human condition is all about what itโs like being human in this crazy world. For your topic iRobot and fashion immediately come to mind. And then as some people have said on the forum GSP has some great songs that seem to talk about Jon wrestling with this idea that social media is a necessity because the possibility of what might happen if he discards it is really scary. I think of CWMW and the internet. Hope this helps. If you would want to see my essay let me know!!

Iโd definitely do THC for this one, but if you wanted to get juicy with it you could dig into how THC is focused outwards and GSP is focused in. THC is looking at the world and seeing all the fucked up bits and all the good stuff with it, and GSP is expanding that mindset and observation to include the writerโs internal experience.

@Jrosario66 I'd love to read it, even just for leisure! feel free to email it to isabellefonte@icloud.com . I could maybe do songs from both albums, but I have an 8-10 page limit, and I feel I could easily exceed that if I were to do both albums. I tend to rant when I write, so I was hoping to pinpoint an album, or a specific topic thats less broad than just "Culture" covered in his music. Thanks so much for your feedback!! :))

Hey good luck on your essay! I see you've aleeady got plenty suggestions and my brain is dead at the moment from mid terms, but gotta say my last year of high school I made a whole essay about jon's music for a class hahaha. Had to relate some song themes to a book and personal experiences. Tbh I could still write whole essays ab Jon's music just for fun
โ It was never enough โ
