I'm would love to hear your comments (and the comments of the community) on record labels, how they've changed, what it was like starting your own, Ticketmaster, stuff like that!@profromping it’s all changing really fast, the world is moving and changing quickly so these companies try to get ahead of all the tech so the artists are always a step behind. The Janko pod I spoke how I was burned by it all but it’s also my responsibility to know what it is. The trickery is messed up but I’m better now for it. It’s all a big learning experience.

I'd love to hear about 'Adult Swim (feat Taumie)', so much in this song.
Gives me questions like were these smaller clips of beats before you wanted to bring them together or was the evolution intentional from the get go, and with that was the concept of using a radio an after thought or again an intention? Also would love to hear about 'Hand of God - Outro', such a powerful and gentle way to end the album. What made you want to end the album that way, how was writing for a choir and why did you choose those lines?
And finally, I love the beep linking 'He is the Same' to Hand of God, any reason to make the album cyclical? Please also 'JT', it is so lush and gritty with the choir chops and crunchy bass, and ending with the ethereal reverb space. Beautiful. Would love to get a deep dive on the instruments in that song.
I will say, I will be watching any deep dive you do, there is so much to learn from each song
️
Thank you very much Mr Jon
@tinyspiderplant AS was exactly that I had a batch of beats Tuamie sent me and couldn’t decide on one. I always loved how dilla tracks were sometimes these samplers of 20 seconds of an idea. I kinda thought to expound on that while also paying homage to mixtape culture. Having Piccolo narrate it like DJKAYSLAY or DJDRAMA felt new but fire. The blending with the radio noice was cool but next time for AS2 I would prob just hard switch the beats of construct mini interludes inbetween.

@User12261990 Hello! This is amazing. You’ve been one of my biggest inspirations as both an artist and a producer, and I’ve always admired how intentional and immersive your work is. Huge respect for creating this platform and giving us a space to connect with you and with each other.
I saw someone mention sonic approach and the writing process, and I 100% agree—I’d love to see something like your ‘making of’ videos, but even beyond just the BTS, diving deeper into the thought process, creative decisions, and the emotions behind your craft. I’m also really curious about how you approach storytelling and concept development—how you weave themes across an album and connect everything sonically and lyrically.
And for us production nerds, I'd love to hear about the more technical side—any go-to production techniques, favorite pieces of gear, plugins, effects, or unique tricks you always find yourself using. I’m always fascinated by how you build your tracks, any production breakdowns would be amazing to see too! Also, I’d love to hear how you translate sound into visuals and build a cohesive aesthetic around your music.
@Bashia plug-ins gear presets, it’s something new literally everyday. I’ve never been a gear but I just want it to like what’s coming out of the speakers. It sounds so non helpful but my process is never the same and my thoughts on what makes something great is forever changing too. One thing I will say is at this point I’m producing people more than I am working on a DAW. I like many minds driving toward a sonic goal and I can only do so much. My songs sometimes have 9 “writers” but they might have only added a single drum sound but I wanna make sure they are credited. It’s like making a movie I like having different departments (art, directors, special fx) I just want it to feel new all the time.

I think the question we all deserve to know is did lauren ever call you back?
@jcpaul I’ve been married almost 8 years. The question can be put to rest hahahahhahsha

I would love to see more album art with those characters. The stories and emotions that can be portrayed with album art is insane. It’s actually what first got me into the music
@Jeepcom57 this album is way more rooted in reality. Not as fantastical at all. It deals with my actual life where escapism and ultra reality can distract from the task at hand of being present and rooted in real time. Old family pictures type of aesthetic. Generational questions and real time trying to figure out what being a present father feels like. The music is something to think about and get lost in, but the aesthetic is blunt reality.

I think you would BODY a podcast. There isn't enough documentation of you in conversation with like minded creatives. Perspective is personal, but yours is so deeply rich - of which the world could use a great deal of.
@cyrusvill I wanna do a bunch this time around

@User12261990 Thank you so much to you and the team for creating this gathering place for all of us to link up. I'm a high school Music Production and Theory teacher. I've been a huge fan of your art since the THC days, and love using your "Making of" videos in class during our discussions of the creative process. I think it would be incredible to have more resources like you mentioned (DAW breakdowns, preset and plugin preferences, recording tips and tricks, etc.) We do lots of discussions about the different lines of work they can get into, and how to hone their skillset, and having more from someone like you that has diversified how many ways you can share and create, would be so helpful in this post-pandemic, ease of access type music world!
@MarkFig I actually want that kind of job in my older age I’m jealous! Hahahaha snoop around I’ve answered some daw questions around here. Thanks for repoing so hard!

Categories will consistently change depending on the roll out. But if their is a category yall would want to have me speak on or interact with (ex: sonic approach, lyric explanation, intention and purpose of certain songs, equipment used, DAW details, Synth parameters, vocal presets, sample references, mix intentions, vocal approaches) suggest them here.
@User12261990 How much of the mixing/mastering process are you involved in directly? Do you delegate mixing and then provide feedback for revisions? Do you mix it yourself a bit and then delegate for the final mile? Are you in the room while it's being mixed? With an artist like you that's SO particular about their sound, I'm wondering how often you're able to let go and let others carry the work.
I struggle working with others because my vision for the mix if often different from what the engineer envisions, and I don't want to pain them with revisions lol

@User12261990 will you be releasing your own version of Holy?? I loved it so much watching you perform it in person during your VIP but was really disappointed in people for secretly recording it and sharing it everywhere. Cool that Justin Bieber got it the recognition it deserves as it’s such a beautiful song, but annoyed it wasn’t Jon Bellion’s, you know?

@User12261990 LYRIC EXPLANATION PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I think it could be super dope to have a place to talk about the way that people have individually interpreted lyrics of yours and you could provide your original intentions. I feel like it could be a really cool collaborative space
@lucyhamman omg i loveee this idea, i've always wanted to hear the intention and meaning of the songs from jon himself

@User12261990 I think it would be fire to do song highlights of some of your favourite tracks you've ever from other artists and how some of those things have weighed in on the way you write, and think whilst producing.
