How Has Jonβs Work Influenced You?I made this post on the little site demo 3 days ago, but I'll repost it here because it fits this question.
In 2013 like alot of you I was (to my mums dismay, shoutout to the bro) obsessed with Call of Duty, I'd get home everyday from primary school and pop on whatever new video any guy in that era of FaZe had just dropped. FaZe Rain was my favourite, easily. When Rain hit 100k, he dropped his 100k Montage, and in that montage he used LIFE, from Translations through speakers. When I tell you that I spent that ENTIIIRE afternoon spam repeating that song, I'd be underselling, it was instant obsession, and it didn't just start an obsession with Jon. I grew up in a music family, my parents always had music playing but obviously it wasnt anything "new" sounding, atleast to my gen z ass. dont get me wrong, bangers, stevie wonder, bill withers, silverchair, nina simone, amy winehouse, kings of leon, etc etc, but my only real exposure to modern music/"good" pop music was through whatever was getting radio play which in NZ leaves not that much to be desired. I truly think discovering Jon jumpstarted an appreciation for seeking music for me, I was obsessively finding every track on YouTube I could of his, but also just any artist, and any song I could come across and feel like I found it on my own. I also believe it made me far more appreciative of good production and funky rhythms, and that's still a huge thing for me when it comes to music I really like.

What artists/albums do you feel have had the most profound impact on you from artists you're not directly affiliated with?this is kinda an open book one, I'd love to hear other people talk about albums they really adore, jon or not.

What artists/albums do you feel have had the most profound impact on you from artists you're not directly affiliated with?Even if you feel they haven't had any impact on how you've thought about your own music, just any albums that have taken you aback.
a recent one for me is "you dont mess around with jim" from jim croce, my parents told me they played him when I was young but I ended up rediscovering him and listening the album to death. such a talent, gone too young

When did you know that Jon's artistry was different?honestly when I found him, I was hella young and didnt have a grasp of how to find music outside of whatever played on NZ radio so the main music I knew was music my parents played (which to their credit, was absolutely amazing, loved growing up in a very music inclined family), heard LIFE from TTS off a cod montage in 2013 and that alone was enough to change my perception on pop music forever, but in extension really the whole of TTS did that for me.
When I look at it now, as someone who listens to alot of music and listens quite broadly, it's definitely the production, that dilla and other influences, mixed with his writing and versatility.
