This is a question for Jon and all of you! It's come to the point that I can hear a song and I can almost immediately tell that Jon Bellion worked on it.
Here's the question: What are specific traits of Jon's writing and production that make it so noticeable? Anything specific that comes to mind?
One random thing that frequently gives him away is that he has a very specific type of echo he uses. You know what I mean? Anyways, let me know your thoughts!

It’s so hard to put into words. You just KNOW.

i agree, you kinda just get a feeling. before i knew he wrote ghost and holy, i was like "wait, this sounds EXACTLY like something jon would sing/cover/write" especially after having seen him live for human condition part iii & gsp, there's just something about how the lyrics are written, no matter who ends singing, that just makes it CLICK that it was him

@Jefferson-M I don’t really have a great answer for you, but when I heard Me, Myself and I by 5SOS and Holy by Biebs I immediately thought “this sounds like Jon”. Looked it up and sure enough. He’s got those spices that just cook different I guess !

I think it’s the cadence he uses that’s so catchy yet so unconventional to typical pop music these days

@Jefferson-M What I always notice is the amount of instruments and sound effects that are actually just vocal noises. A lot of people who say they are similar to Jon Bellion use those vocal sound effects.

@AverageJoe6 yeah, it really seems like he was a pioneer for that specific type of vocal instrumentation in a way

Personally, it’s the attention to detail. Like all the little sounds that he makes and edits into songs that make them sound so good! Not to mention bro just creates drum pockets that creates a feeling like this is the first time you’re ever hearing music

There are a few things that stick out but the most prominent is the beat boxing layer that’s thrown into the mix like a personal touch. I’m thinking specifically of the work with the band Lawrence and their song Casualty. But there are other examples all throughout albums like Tori Kelly’s TORI and the Jonas Brothers’ The Album
