Crazy to think for how much I’m not a fan of ads, I will forever be grateful that a simple Spotify ad lead me to my all time favorite artist. From there I dove deep into the discography listening to songs multiple times in a row each with different intent; sonically, lyrically, drum pockets, “Jon Sounds.”
I think my true love for Jon’s music really came from watching the making of videos. As soon as I binged all of those it was over, I was in awe.
Fast forward a few years later I see Jon tweet about my favorite band Lawrence. I couldn’t believe it. Then to see him announce they were going to open for him I did a backflip. Crazy to see your two favorite artists become one.
The Chicago show on the GSP tour was ridiculous. The vip hang before, Jon lion kinging Randy, and the hype mosh pit are all memories I cherish immensely.
A lot of people were upset that Jon took such a long break but I always felt that he said he was going to do it in his songs on GSP. And that was way before I learned anything about how messed up his contract was. Nevertheless it’s been crazy to hear his sound transcend throughout pop music through so many artists these past 6 years. He is fabricating culture as we speak.
Forever grateful for what he has given us and am looking forward to witnessing what’s ahead without expectation. I know it’ll be great and I’m glad he can create on his time and in his best health
