Jon, where were you when 'Mah's Joint' spiritually outro melody came to you?

I get emotional every time your humming starts. It seems like the type of melody that struck you and immediately got put into an iPhone voice memo. Is that how it happened? Where were you when the melody came? Just another studio session?

I wonder this too! I remember in the GSP Documentary, Jon mentioned that the humming is him vocalizing his gratefulness in a way words/lyrics can never describe… I always think about that whenever I listen to it, and that never fails to make me emotional, as well

I don’t even remember, that one was kind of blurry and emotional. Mark Williams worked out great chordal ideas around my main melody thing, I think without him it wouldn’t have been as “important” sounding. Raul Cubina and Manny Miroquinn on the mix side as well. That was a team vision for sure.
