I got rid of tiktok, Instagram, and Snapchat a few years ago. Never had twitter... The amount of clout chasing, disingenuous people, and anxiety provoking content isn't healthy for anyone's mental. Love this idea of a dedicated forum for all of us with a common interest. Good luck to you!

Started a similar journey about three weeks ago of deleting my social media accounts and it's been great, now to have a platform where it's nothing but love for each other through similar interests is unreal to see & be a part of

Yeah definitely one of the better life choices I’ve ever made getting off of socials. Completely consumes and becomes an obsession. It’s designed to keep you there and suck uour time. Kinda scary actually.

@User12261990 no literally! Our phones track our eyes people
The science behind advertising too is so scary, but unfortunately that one can’t be escaped. Prioritizing my life to spend time with the Lord is hard enough even without socials so I def had to. Love that you’re inadvertently spreading that message of health with your platform.

Got rid of twitter and tiktok and have stopped using insta all in the past 2 months. This place just feels so refreshing! Feels so cool to interact with people again and not think about likes and dislikes or views and followers. Just vibes

I deactivated Facebook and Instagram last summer and I feel much better...about myself. Realized almost every time I got off social media I felt worse about myself, and very rarely felt better than before I got on. Why was it so intoxicating then? If I really was that unhappy with my life I figured it was better to actually do something about it.

@JunaErickson I feel the same way. Deactivated my TikTok and Facebook despite not using FB all that often but it was really jarring to me that every time I logged on there would be so many videos of gore and heinous acts committed to people. That’s not healthy at all. Hoping to do the same with instagram and then I’ll be free of the jaws of social media

@ChibiT No kidding, it's just not healthy. I don't think our brains were made to process that much information and exposure. Real life is enough for my brain to deal with lol

got off of tiktok and fb recently. gonna try to move off of instagram soon hopefully, but that's where a lot of my circle is active, so it's tough. on bluesky tangentially, but am mostly hanging out around here, discord, and reddit in fandom spaces which tend to be much more chill
