Sometimes I’ll put on Mah’s Joint and have a lil bittersweet cry… I never really listened to it until quarantine when my great grandma’s health started to decline. She was sort of the maternal figure for my mom and seeing my mom drop everything to care for her was beautiful but also so hard to watch. I listened to the song a ton when we went to visit her before she passed. The latter part of the song brought me so much comfort at the time. I miss her so much but she’s undoubtedly in a way better place. From time to time I’ll just listen to it and think of her and it brings back so many great memories.

there is so many jon songs that tear your heart strings that for me no artist has really done. singing a song about watching your mother become a mom to HER own mom is so raw.
