Lent

Jon is a Christ follower and I assume that a couple of us are as well so happy Lent to you all
️
I wanted to know if anyone is giving anything up? If yes, and you mind sharing, what is it/are they?
I’m having a hard time trying to think of what to sacrifice because I don’t even mindlessly scroll on social media. My screen time is high because of the various things I use but my highest number is instagram which is 2 hours a day and YouTube because I listen to ASMR to sleep (so it doesn’t count). I’m looking for suggestions.
@tiachante_ I’m trying to give up on cheese & chocolate but it isn’t working. Hopefully I can try to avoid them bc I think I’m allergic to milk/dairy. So far it’s been two days since I haven’t had dairy.

i’m not participating, but a friend of mine is giving up dessert foods (cakes, cookies, etc.) so that’s an idea you could do

I always give up Instagram, it’s one of my addictions! I’m also giving up fast food and soda - my other addiction! Those are both smallish things, so they might seem trivial, but even small things can lead to unhealthy mind and body, and a block to being obedient to the Lord. Other than that, I am using the Hallow app to do daily prayers and Bible reading.
Blessed Lent to everyone!!

i’ve given up all social media (instagram, facebook, and reddit are what i use) and i’m also giving up “treats” lol. so no coffee shop goodies, no impulsively buying merch. gonna be hard!
@cbarr14 oooo that is gonna be hard but also soooo good for you in the end once you commit. All the best!
Although I guess if I knew tomorrow
I guess I wouldn't need faith
I guess if I never fell, I guess I wouldn't need grace
I guess if I knew His plans, I guess He wouldn't be God, God, God -

@AmyMarie nothing is trivial as long as you know that taking it away makes space for you to connect with God more. I’m cheering you on!

Blessed Lent! My goal is to be more dedicated in my prayer life and spiritual reading (the Bible mainly but there are other books im reading too). I'm also giving up sweet drinks (so basically only water) and I'm gonna try to work out 1-2 a week.
I'm also trying to listen to uplifting music and cut down on spending. I did Exodus 90 last year, so I'm doing a watered down version this year
I was about to make a post about lent/ash Wednesday, so this delighted me to see someone else is talking about it!
(Edits: adding stuff I forgot)@mrkitty aw love that! That’s a great approach to it. You got this

@FrankieFeelsIt that’s another one I can’t really apply to me because I barely eat sweet treats as it is
