Indie Game with John Bellion Easter Egg?
-
Hey Beautiful Minds!
I'm LiquidTea and I'm the game designer for a game called Screech, which is an indie game that me and my team (called 12Pts) have worked on for over a year and 5 months now and is nearing completion. It is a 3D time travel based puzzle platformer where you travel between the past and the present to solve puzzles. Think Dishonored 2's time travel mission with Portal's structure. Everything in the game has been made from scratch by either me or a member of my team, nothing is store bought or borrowed.
I've been a fan of Jon Bellion for many years and with the creation of this forum, I'd love to pay homage to the man who's inspired a large portion of my creative journey by adding a reference or an Easter Egg of Jon, or something he's made with his community's help. One of my all time favorite tracks is Cautionary Tales from the Glory Sound Prep album. The story in that song is just so cool to me, and it is a perfect example of a character that could be mentioned in Screech for the Easter Egg, but I'm asking you all for for some suggestions. There are books, notes, environmental story telling, hidden notes inside the music that plays, all kinds of possibilities in Screech. So get creative!!!
I'd love for Jon himself give a suggestion but more importantly, his permission to do this. This post is in no way an ad for the game, so I will not be linking to it. (Unless permission is granted) But if you wish to look into the game, or request access to the ongoing playtest for half the game, you can find it on Steam by searching for Screech.
Please keep all suggestions appropriate and relevant. Thanks for reading!

You could do a Tom Bombadil thing - reference in books and notes about “this king, this legend.” The lyrics already read as a mythos.
“I heard he was formed from the northern lights.”
“I heard he struck down gods and entire armies. At least those are the stories I heard as a kid.”
“Heard he was given an offer by antagonist to serve nefarious plans. He said no, naturally.”Quick ideas mostly just to show support of the idea!! Love the thought:)

@Itsame_Jay That's an awesome idea. I was not aware about what the song was based on. Thanks for the suggestion! Are there any other references I could do?

Haha I think the song is based on JB’s journey. Tom is just LOTR nerd talk - the trope being that you reference an all-powerful character that could solve all the issues but never actually incorporate the character into the plot.
Super excited for how this shakes out though:) love the idea for the game and the Easter eggs! Hope you get permission
